The Keeper's Lantern

From a confusion of rocks
A smooth, stone column thrusts
A focused lens. Haunting, rhythmic
Light bends
Till dark thus pulsed
Sparks a resemblance to the heart of the keeper
Long since automated.
Ocean sounds
Push through fog
In the direction of a cabin.
Once within, the night air brings
A finger to a woman's lips,
Parting them until a sigh
Escapes to sit beside the hearth
And there await the sway of fire
That glows diffusion
Down the path.

an interesting blend of images..all tied with a central theme which lays out for the reader an illusion of being there..but not quite...

I always enjoy your words Bob... I have to stop, ponder, read again and wonder at what I am missing...I glean a great deal from them, but always feel there is a depth there I just can't quite reach...

One of these days I am going to learn to write like this.... or at least I hope to.

keeps
words of
bent light
to reflect
back
on the day
the gift
came
in

Thank you for this, Bob...thank you very much....

And I was begging you to come back.  For what?  This?
YES!
By the way, bent light is "refracted."  'Nuff schoolin' for today.  You may now take another recess
A short one
