Who does the Math?

Lord--this time
its not that I just don't
understand
cause early on I learned that life
is not fair,
but this Lord, my brain refuses
to comprehend-
how do you put a price
on making someone into
less than half
of what they used to be?
And it doesn't end there
to that figure they minus
the additional percentages
(totaled and compounded annually)
for what 'faults' the 'guidelines'
do not accept.
I was the innocent one,
so the only lesson being taught
is 666 Ways to Cheat the Injured
(for insurance adjusters only)
where the teacher wears a hat
by necessity.
And the bottom line is-
whether I want to face it
or not-I was obviously
just in the wrong
place
at the wrong time.

And damned are we all
for to this idolatry we do agree-
offering homage monthly
to this tower of Babble.
Sure, I know, we say
we live in the land of the free,
but pay your premium
or surely, the right
to drive, you will be
denied.

Lord...
with what senses remain intact,
I am able to grasp onto
a shred of hope
promised
by your grace and mercy, and
when judgment day arrives
in spite of everything
I would rather be half
of me
than a whole
one of them.

I know about hard times, and you are always home here.  This is great.

Dear friend, even with all the hair HFG has to spare, those bottom feeders are not worth even a (gray and quickly ripped out, tossed in the trash, and vehemently denied *G*) hair on your head!

Excellent writing, as always... you have such a talent for phrasing even an ordinary event in unforgettable description. *S*
