The band takes the stage
Everyone on the same page
The applause slowly die down
Capturing the attention of the town

Every ear waiting in anticipation
Of the upcoming instrumentation
Melodies flying through the air
As harmonies fall with loving care

The music begins to swell
As my mind remembers those who fell
Giving their lives so I could be free
What greater gift could there be

I think of my uncle who lost his leg
But never thought of it as a plague
He lived in the shadow of his dreams
His green eyes lost their youthful gleam

He willingly went to defend our land
Voluntarily signing with a shaky hand
Seeing it as his God given right
Traveling to distant lands to fight

The war was not a pretty one
But freedom once again was won
Protected by all those who served
Please give them the thanks they deserve

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Good one, Lone Wolf!  It's like a march in perfect cadence the rhythm of its flow...and it's message, exact!

Lone wolf!
I love this one!  so true, we all need to think about the men who were wounded and died so that we could live freely in this land...this one brought tears to my eyes!
