In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-07-03 11:57 AM

A wave of gold swept my heart today
By the time I thought to catch her
She had gone away --
Vanished in the salty air
As though she never had been there

The rolling curves and swells are gone
Though in my mind they linger on
Like the ringing toll of a buoy's bell
Questions of what could have been
Hold answers not to tell.

The tide had caught me by surprise
By turning my back, I could not surmise
And when I hoped to find the gold
I felt once more the trough of cold

Realizing once again
What should have been real
Would flow from a pen

A wave of gold
On a beach alone
What would have been
Will never be known...

Next time remember
That the next time you feel
You want to make it next time
Make the next time real.

What a wonderful read to think that for a brief moment, a moment of golden delight could be held....

but the spirit remains of this one....

a wonderful read, indeed....

Thanks for sharing a moment with this poem, Decaflame...  once again:  when one appreciates the moment, it can last forever...

Enjoyed the read and the last stanza rather took me aback because I just posted a poem written last July that speaks of making a 'false promise of next time,' of course, it was in self-preservation that the young woman made it.

enjoyed... nice thought that one can capture a moment.. and if we are not aware..we do not even realize it was a moment until it is gone..
Well presented..and quite enjoyable..

Mark,
You are wonderful with words! I dont know what else to say, to catch one moment even so slight is enough to be thankful for...thanks for sharing

Mark,
There are many golden moments to behold, and with each one that slips through your hands, there is an even brighter one with each sunrise to capture.  As long as you believe, the shimmering visions will gently dance into your open arms to hold onto forever.  A beautiful read...

Ah yes, VAS...  "self preservation".  An interesting mechanism that one is...  Yet, the more we mature and realize things for what they are, the more options we find in "preserving ourselves" without being at someone else's expense.  Thanks for reading and replying.

Ron, thanks for your comments.  Indeed, a moment is to be savoured, but its intesity is always directly proportionate to one's frame of mind in that moment.  Thank you for stopping by.

Thank you, Cindi...  I enjoy working with words, but they pale in comparison to working with music and sound...  Glad you got something out of this poem.

SEA:  thank you for the compliment...  to find beauty in all things is an honorable challenge.

Yes, Sandra -- that golden feeling...  so much can constitute that description, yet we've all felt it in some form or other.  Even gold has many layers to its shine...

Paula:  gold can be many things to many people, even if it's not the "real" thing...

Elise, I love your positivity and melifluousness in thought and writing -- like a fine silk dress blowing in a warm breeze...  Thanks for your thoughts.
