Just when I thought Time had set me free Memories from my past Kept hanting me. I did everything I could To ease my pain But those memories were too strong And I relived them once again. I am so tired of Listening to the sound of my tears Tired of allowing my life To be controlled by my fears. In my life, everything had gone wrong I needed a friend And that's when you came along. You gave me a gift When you opened your heart. I knew you were special Right from the start. You entered my heart And destroyed my wall. You've shown me more patience Than I can ever recall. I wanted so much to run from you To protect my heart So you wouldn't hurt me too. But, As time went on, You opened my eyes And set my heart free, You are more than a friend YOU ARE LIKE A SISTER TO ME. With you in my life I learned how to love You are my angel Sent straight from heaven above. I spent my life living in fear, Running from love Year after year. I finally stopped running Stopped being scared I learned how to love Learned how to care. I still get confused at times And I hope this will change Your friendship has helped me To release my heart from this pain You gave me hope deep down inside You've shown me I no longer need To run and hide. You have broken my walls Released me from my past I see my future With love at last. You gave me it all But you will never know Just how much you have helped me to grow. Written and dedicated to my soul sister Jane. |

I would be honored to receive a poem like this. I hope Jane has read this, though I don't doubt, in her heart, she already knows. Very emotive write, Lisann... keep the pen flowing. -MVS "If you think you know it all, you have a lot to learn." |

Lisann, I smiled while I read this...for I too have a friend like this. Isn't it remarkable how people come into our lives when we least expect it or really don't want anyone to...and they change it for the better and show us love. sorry dont mean to ramble...at any rate, just a really beautiful poem! hope your friend has a great bday, and that you two continue this wonderful friendship of yours for many years to come. take care. amy "but i see your true colors, |

Just a quick note to tell you all how things went this weekend. I gave Jane the poem inside of a homemade card and she cried. It actually brought tears to her eyes. Which of course brought tears to mine. The power of the human spirit is amazing. When two hearts connect, whether through romance, friendship or family the power of love is overwhelming--there really is no words to describe the feelings we both shared friday night. Except to say that for the first time in my life I heard the words I Love You from a woman. It was also the first time I have ever said them to a woman. As you can tell by some of my other writings, I have had a very difficult childhood--never trusted anyone but, I am very happy that I have overcome that. |
