HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLD GLORY!
Virginia Salter

Happy birthday to you,
grand red, white and blue
an emblem of sacrifice,
valor and pride.

You fly o’er this land
from seashore of sand
cross prairie and mountains
you wave,

Past rivers and streams
reflecting our dreams
of glories and honors
so brave.

You climb the high trails
emblazon the sails
that grace the lakes,
rivers and bays.

An echo of pride
to those who have died
defending her borders
and friends ‘round the world.

Oh long may your colors
shine out on our banners,
whisper allegiance and
remain ever unfurled.

As hands come together
all life’s storms to weather
a rainbow of people
aglow

United compatriots
manning the chariots
stand ever ready to serve

Giving heed to alliance
and healthy compliance
stating with elan and verve,

Their intent to stand tall
in the face of it all
and shout, “Raise Old Glory”
on high,

With bombs bursting in air
to together declare
in devotion
we shall stand nigh
