In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-07-02 12:30 PM

I can't recall ever feeling so alone
I sense the void inside me growing each day
Although the distance in between us isn't far
It feels like lightyears, anyway...

I pass some flowers of the deepest purple hue;
I look at them and think of you...

When you're away,
My thoughts are with you, at your side
When you're away,
Depression is so hard to hide
A man whose spirits die
With each unspoken goodbye
A night without a day,
When you're away

My friends console me and keep me company
They try to put my mind on other things
I'm very grateful, but they'll never understand
How much lament your abscence brings...

In every daydream, I can see your smiling face
It reafirms this empty space...

When you're away,
My thoughts are with you, at your side
When you're away,
Depression is so hard to hide
A man whose spirits die
With each unspoken goodbye
A night without a day,
When you're away

When you're away,
I savour every memory
When you're away,
The blaring silence deafens me
It's hard to carry on,
When my spark of life is gone...
In solitude I pray
When you're away.

I'm lost within myself
Words cannot say
All that I feel inside
When you're away...

Bad feelings to have, when left alone like this. But hey, we are resilient, right?
So many sad days in life, yet the good ones make it all worthwhile. As usual, I relate to this.

I hope the person who is "away" realizes how much they mean to you. Very beautifully expressed.

Thank you, Sy.  Some memories can replay like an endless tape-loop.

Ron, thanks for the comments.

Yes, Sandra...  they do.  Resiliance sometimes feels like heavy exercise -- "I can't do it! I CAN'T do it!!"...  but sure enough, you do it and are better for it (as long as you don't OVER do it, of course...  and how does one really gauge that, anyways???)

Thank you, Betty...  maybe one day, but it's many chapters past that story, as life would have it, though it remains beyond my understanding...

I felt these feelings, Mark.  They are never easy to cope with, but somehow we find a way to go on and are usually better for it.  I hope you are also.

well written MVS. . . this must have been a lonely time for you. . .

you've shown the feelings well here. . .

Lone Wolf:  I think we all do, sometimes.  I'm most definitely better for it, for I chose to learn from the experience, channel it constructively into this song/poem, and share it with others who also can relate to something similar in their lives.  Thanks for reading and replying.

Sven, these words channeled straight from my heart.  Thanks for your comments and time.

A big, consoling hug to you, Krista -- obviously I know how you feel and am glad that my words touched you, but I hope that those are joyful tears you shed...  it was not my intention to open any wounds...

Thank you for the hug Mark.  I can't say that they were tears of joy but perhaps I just need to channel my sorrow into a poem like you have!  Poetry can be a great soother of the soul
