A midnight hour spawned the sight Of ghostly specters, all in white. They shimmered in the corners, where, Their moans and sighings filled the air. I bade them all be gone from me, But they ignored me I could see. I wondered why they had appeared And as the morning hour neared, I watched them fade away until, My room was empty and quite still. Is this an omen I should fear And will they ever reappear? I have a feeling that they might Upon some other sleepless night. They are the dreams that didn't grow. They are the secrets that I know. They are regrets for things that I Had planned to do, but didn't try! Betty Lou Hebert [This message has been edited by Trillium (edited 07-01-2001).] |

The only way to keep them at bay is to get out there and do those things! This was very original, Trillium. Great write. All writing comes |

"they are dreams that didn't grow they are secrets that I know. They are regrets for things that I had planned to do, but didn't try" ================================ Betty~ Can you hear that? That's the gulp in my throat, how I relate! I read this three times before replying, your use of rhyme, message and theme is excellent and very touching. This gives me much to think about and perhaps strive for. Into my library this goes~ Take care, Melissa~ |

Now this was very insightful, and if you can believe it, tomorrow I am actually going to finish some things thanks to your poem! Great job on this one, and don't ever let it be said words don't move mountains, as that is exactly what you are doing (well a pile of compost actually)...lol If I have made you smile today, then I have done my job! ~* Mysteria *~ |

Mysteria: Thanks! Moving a mountain of compost is a major accomplishment I'd say! Happy Canada Day. I too, am Canadian but have lived in the States for many years. Betty Lou Hebert |

Janet Marie: Thank you for your nice comments. I hadn't thought about this from a Poe viewpoint, but there is some shred of resemblance there I guess. I enjoy the comparison at any rate! Betty Lou Hebert |
