where the sky and horizon meet

The storm hit and I thought
of poetic fallacy.
The harsh fall of
a million raindrops
cannot compare to the
tears I've shed.
Those streaks of lightning
flash straight through to my heart,
And the thunder --
that rumbling cry of outrage
is a whimper beside
the roar in my chest.
When a storm hits
all you can do is sit back
and watch until it dies down,
waiting for the time to rise again,
into the sunshine of another day.

great use of imagery and metaphor here Kitten
both worked well to express the emotions.

Absolutely!  Well done!!! You have summed it up precisely and exquisitely. Of course, we are usually only capable of seeing the situation so wisely when we have been able to escape the eye of the storm.
