The Shores of Alone

Looking back through tunnels of love and despair
Questioning why such turmoil is always there
Seems yesterdays kiss left a mark on my soul
Long past it continues with remnants of cold

Can it please be relived, those days filled with hope?
If not, tell me what is the best way to cope.
Feel blueness reach out, clutching hard at my heart
From where comes the strength to make honest new start?

I would be the first one to step back in time
A time when the planets were rightly aligned
when men wanted love on a rose strewn warm beach
and asked for your hand, really wanting to keep.

Not the same anymore, the love game we play
Or is it just fate which has turned me away?
Will time lend itself to be true friend or foe?
Or shall it continue to hide what I know?

Rumor has it there is an answer to this
Thus I wait forever, for one final kiss.

I think we have all experienced these questions and thoughts at some point.  You have captured them in beautiful words.

Great read,

Ahh, Sandra, we cope by using the experiences of the last to go to the next, seeking the difference of what didn't work before. All too often we end up with the same ticket to the same show..live large, love large...gentle smile

Lovely catalinamoon...I know that it is hard to believe in love until we experience it and feel its warmth...and hopefully none of us will have to look too far back into our past to know love...it will come knocking on our door with fresh kisses and new fantastic experiences...James

Sandra,
Oh, so beautiful in that longing and those questions that don't have any answers. But I know in your heart, the search will still go on.You have to let it. This is wonderful...

Sandra, I am the furthest thing from "religious", but this one prayer has inspired me for years and says so much in so few words:  "God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference."  Contemplating the true meaning within this prayer has helped me out immensely when trying to fathom the "unfathomable".  Wonderfully written poem, Sandra.

Sandra;

This is a masterpiece.  It's been awhile since I have read your writings ("Phreak" is an alias   ), but like always, your words have managed to pierce my heart.

Beautiful poem

you know that I've always wondered if we could go back. . . but the truth is. . . we can't. . .we can only go forward. . . and, in going forward, we hopefully take with us the lessons that we learned back there. . .

wonderful my friend. . . never give up. . .

This is a touching bittersweet write Sandra...
you ask all the questions I think we ask of our heart when it is held by a love lost.
The sincerety of this is a tender as the emotions it speaks of
Well done Poetess Catalina...your writing has grown much of late... heal in the words...find quiet comfort in the release of them.
take care

I for one, don't believe chivalry is dead!  There are some real gentlemen in this world, I know a few!  And a lot of romantics also...
