Uncle Kip Mows The yard
( or does he)

Old uncle Kip, never took lip,
Especially when mowing the yard,
His manner was gruff but his bluster a bluff
For sometimes he let down his guard

First he would glower, then lecture an hour
On how things used to be
His voice rose and fell and then he would yell
While pointing a finger at me

“Give it a jerk, and let’s get to work”
Told me the sermon was through
So I’d pull and I’d tug , he would just shrug
Asking “what’s the matter with you”

The mower was old, too bad to be sold
But he had bought it new
The engine was shot, the rest gone to pot
And once I think it was blue

Then over he’d bend, showing the mend
In overalls faded with grime
He’d screw with the carb, and offer the barb
That mechanical things took time

With a big sigh, he’d look at the sky
As if searching for answers anew
Then inside he’d go, me close in tow
While the grass continually grew.

I was a tad bit leery of going past the line where he bent over in his overalls, not quite sure what I would find...

but you didn't GO there...

The real King Of The Hill?  Just goes to show that the art of rhyme and message can be used for other descriptions as well.  Enjoyed this one, Ron.
