Hold Back the Day by Michael The damned sun came up again today! No rest! Why is it that grief is allowed to bludgeon these tears from me and why must the sun assault my eyes each morning with its salted rays? My spirit limps. Why is it that when someone dies a part of us is buried with them? As shadows run before the fading sun I sit weeping yet again, touching the fresh mound of earth that covers my best friend. (Dedicated to my friend, Columbus, who drowned while trying to rescue his brother) Michael Auguste~ |

Wonderful poem my poet friend! The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up |

Truly tear enducing. It was very brilliantly written, I am sorry it took such lose to inspire greatness. "We also know how cruel the truth often is, and we wonder whether delusion is not more consoling."- Henri Poincare (1854-1912) |

You've written well from your grief and anger that grief has visited you. You have my sympathy. |

A fine tribute to a hero's demise. "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve" |

Oh Michael, very sad. Death is so complex I doubt we'll ever be able to fully understand it from here on earth. When a loved one dies, I agree we do lose a small piece of ourselves. I believe that piece of us is exchanged in our hearts for a piece of them so that they may live on in our thoughts and deeds. Your friend died doing a very noble thing, I know it doesn't make it easier to deal with though. Well done on the write. So sorry for the loss of your friend. Best wishes to you and yours. All writing comes |
