The Following is a statement that all the high school students I worked with were asked to write about in English Class. The kids asked to write soething too... "Racism exists when a person feels that a member of another race is innately inferior to one’s own race. That it is morally right to segregate, dominate, or even eliminate members of the other race." Here it is... Racism A canker on the human soul A growth, a stain, a sin The only way to get rid of it Is to let the sunlight in The sunlight comes as knowledge That you’re the same as me You’re colors not the same as mine But each of us is free The sunlight burns away the dark And takes away the pain For Hatred lives in darkness And breeds more hate again Chase away the darkness Your soul will start to grow Your world will gain the colors Of a beautiful kaleidoscope Suddenly your heart will sing A song that’s free to all And many you will find your friends Colors matter not at all Lisa ‘01 |
