Living here in separation
keeps the heart on tainted sleeves
a critical visible situation
oh who is this talking to me.

Well the years are quickly burning
and our love has come to rest
and the heartaches that we're earning
will see the future past the best.

so let's fall in love again
let's fall in love like we did back when
let's find the same love that made us friends.

Well there's grey in your auburn hair
and the crows feet mark your eyes
but there's beauty there we both shared
in the feelings we're trying to hide.

let's fall in love again
let's fall in love from beginning to end
let's make the same love that made us friends.

There's everything we need to know
in the love we had long ago
where we kept our hopes and blessings
back when there was no guessing.

let's fall in love again
the way we did when we were making plans
let's find the same love that made us friends.

something had to be right
back where we found delight

let's fall in love again
let's use the same love we used back then!

Let's fall in love again!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

This is wonderfully woven.  Thoughts held by so very many, I'm certain.  If only more would take the time to 'fall in love again' instead of falling out.

This is so tender and sensible, though wonderfully romantic.

Eric:  I like these 2 stanzas especially:

"Living here in separation
keeps the heart on tainted sleeves
a critical visible situation
oh who is this talking to me."

"Well there's grey in your auburn hair
and the crows feet mark your eyes
but there's beauty there we both shared
in the feelings we're trying to hide."

--very expressive and strong imagery as well as thought-provoking.  Hope is never lost as long as one is willing to keep on trying...  Nice write.

Thanks Virginia for the comments and appreciation!  You're right more should concentrate on falling back into love!

Thank you Mark for the comments and yes, you're right there's always hope for those willing to try!

so let's fall in love again
let's fall in love like we did back when
let's find the same love that made us friends.

This poet's life is difficult
in this you can believe,
it comes to this as a result
of wearing heart on sleeve.

I hope it works out for you and agree, friends first.

This really did sing to me! I think this would be a lovely 'anniversary' poem/song - to keep love alive is a wonderful idea. Your auburn haired lady is lucky to have you.

Thank you so much Janet for your usual exuberant comments and I hope you can get a hold on that puter and make it see thing your way.

I never thought of that Sharon....It's a good idea.     I have no Auburn haired lady but I write these things like I do...and sometimes wish I did! Thanks very much!
