state of confusion

Nobody died today.
His life won’t be chronicled
on the eleven o'clock news,
or be in print tomorrow,
folks won't be discussing
his death over lattes;
he was no one
in particular.

But I was saddened
by his demise,
more than I will tell.

Nobody was
an unusual man,
not easily comprehended,
wildly extreme,
boisterous,
a pain in the ass;
with a capacity to love
that made others uncomfortable
with its purity.

He disdained society,
but the raging duel
between his personalities
also believed
people were love
and children grew up
to solve the problems
of their parents.

His mind seared intelligence,
in his presence,
I felt cheated
in the brain department;
and Nobody
hated stupidity.

Yes, I loved Nobody.

I truly appreciated this--and yes, nobody is SOMEBODY when they touch the hearts of others.

So I thank you for being my somebody today!

guess Dean Martin said it best...You're Nobody till Somebody Loves You..

so many nobodies never make the paper or are recognized by anyone....but they are all important...your tribute is a good one...

Once upon a time, who knows,
there lived someone with hands and toes,
two eyes, a nose and mouth he claimed
but no one knew this oneone's name.

Someone lived and someone died,
someone laughed and someone cried,
someone saw his dreams come true,
someone saw them crushed in two.

Somone saw his dreams come true,
someone saw them crushed into
someone looked and someone found
his footsteps in the solid ground

Yet, then to now will not relay
that yesterday's someone is todays.

Forgive my writing a poem on your poem...yours is far better and full of heart and sadness.
Thanks for reminding me of this poem I wrote way back in the 60's...can't believe I still remembered it all.

...this touched a spot in my heart - clever usage of word-play to tweak the emotions.

Nobody is as crafty as you are at writing, and somebody loves to read all your stuff.

stop it, stop it... out damn spot,
will somebody get the door.
oh, yeah ... they're coming to take me away ha ha, hehe, haha.... to the funny farm. No take her she is somebody, I am nobody.

Ok i'm losing it, but this was such a great piece, and you are such a great writer. Even in your previous life when they were burning you at the stake and nobody cared. Yes nobody cared very much. Although somebody listened to all your rantings about being the Goddess something or other and nobody minded that you talked to spirits and that little mouse. The mouse knew, he knew the truth about you and now everybody knows...

and somebody knows about me.... hey... who are you....GET OUT OF MY HOUSE.
I didn't order a doctor, your not a doctor,
Why are you wearing those white coats...
take her she somebody...

well got to go noooooow

Corinne I love the play on words and the double meaning. This is great poetry but you don't have to listen to me I'm nobody and you've already loved me...sigh I still miss you so!

Hey Corinne I wonder what that Parker was smoking earlier?
