Soul music without instruments the subtle shading of the words To strike a chord of summertime in resonance there to be heard The splash of feet on phrase set free cascade of water pure and swift The azure brilliance high above reflecting crystal waves that drift The smell of Autumn far away a spring rain bare-foot child again The visions of a bygone day all this to see as clear as when These images first graced our sight and caused us to reach out and touch This serenade at times I fear we miss perhaps a bit too much Vacation tugs this writers' hand from reverie upon the page While summers' sweet soul music plays I will be otherwise engaged |
