pittering pat

my mind is full
of little things
thoughts enchanting
sounds of ring

so I sow and
reap and harvest that
all which makes my
pittering pat

now don’t ask me
where it’s at
these little sounds
of singering

and don’t ask me
please, I beg,
if you might come
along fingering

for if you don’t have
it in your soul
then for all the world
and all your gold

I will never
get it back
if you take away my
pittering pat

but you may borrow
anytime
if you can follow
this silly rhyme

I guess, since it came from you, I'd have to hold it dear, not to mention near. Maybe in my hip pocket ... naw, not good to have a pittering there, let alone a pat

I once had a pittering pat
But I don't remember where it's at!
I thought I had it in my pocket
I'm certain that I didn't hock it!
I thought it was a faithful pitter
Didn't know that it would flitter
And turn into a dirty rat...
Where the heck's my pittering pat?
