IF. . .
Virginia Salter

If
I were
a tree
I would be
a deciduous in her autumn
and my words
and my thoughts
would float down from my branches
my limbs
and settle at my feet
and float on the wind
seeking their resting places
the places where they would protect
first
then feed
the very heart
of where they landed
melting into the earth beneath them
waiting to become a part of the future
of all that
they had
touched

Thank you, Cpat...wouldn't it be wonderful to know that something we said would do something so marvelous!

Virginia....a true rendering of your inner thoughts and feelings and portrayed by the artistry therein...

well done, Lady....

Ethereal; yet poignant.  I like both the imagery and the clever shape of wording.  Reminds me of a watercolor whose fresh paints are seeping into their permanent residences.

These words are as beautiful as they are recyclable.

Thanks all, your words touch me and rs, you brought a chuckle...recyclable...a very important trait for certain and very much in keeping with the poem, as well.

I followed the leaf all the way from its height to its waiting.
Nice piece of writing.
