Misty morning Just half-light A fog rolled in During the night Crickets singing Small birds call Not to long now Then it’s fall Summer’s fading Dog days are here What a lovely thing This time of year Faerie Hankies ‘cross my lawn The sun comes creeping With the dawn As day progresses The sun burns hot We’ll seek the shade To cool us off Early morning’s best Before the heat Or late at night When the world’s asleep Just to sit And quietly think Just another chain In Memory’s links Lisa ‘98 |
