The Play a Midwest’s quiet conservative town reaching culturally outward with insight, bound New York lights on open plains though subject matter universal an Encore, to rehearsal! one more time shhhh….. Nationals are coming…. practice, practice, add more in less concise precise in timed time refine, define, combine, realign, consign…..hope! places, places everyone! know your spot don’t be undone don’t forget to break a leg don’t forget to walk on eggs don’t forget the rehearsed line and then do it again one more time. ~*~ so they did, and did succeed take the play and with godspeed cursed rehearse with lusty need to know they’d done it so….indeed! simple lines of clarity spoken once in variety this cursed rehearse of brevity stripped away all naïveté of the audience… pain, emotion, lost devotion, amid commotion of life held the struggle against the waggle of the wiggle of strife the learned patient, as cancer’s host did not brag nor did she boast of her poetic knowledge and its course that she rode most gallant astride history’s horse not till the end, when the pain had increased had she lost compunction nor valued word surcease she treasured words so! the audience in combined despair heard others’ sniffles combined with theirs for the actress held their stare and not because she was bare of hair but the pain of loss for inspired word left her grasp, all poets heard cancer’s pain had gained, when, in a moment’s clarity, she once again spoke Donne and his words became charity “Death be not proud...” and she spoke the lines before the gasp death entwined… but did not last… in staged light, she became her soul, all else had never met the goal she walked out in naked brilliantine and the crowd roared at death’s lost scene The Play |

Well you sure set the stage in that one! I felt like I was watching an old black and white movie, and as usual par excellence! "Lose your temper and you lose a friend; lie and you lose yourself." |

Thank you ALL for reading! This poem was based on the play "Wit" which the Salina Community Theatre performed in the National American Association of Community Theatres Festival this last week as one of ten regional finalists from across the country. I am proud of Salina's efforts, as the cast won the Outstanding Acting Award, as well as first place for outstanding set design. ~*~ SEA, thank you for being patient for my response to your "awesome" remark.... 'Deer...roar of greasepaint, indeed! I am so pleased to know that my feelings for a class act panned out in the end!...thank you!... Logan...indeed, no death came to the fine actions of the remarkable cast and crew!...thank you!... Severn, as you can see from this message, I might only have carried through with what was given to me as inspiration in the first place! But I think this IS the first time I've seen you almost speechless in a crit! Thank you!... Mysteria, you know, it DID come across very much black and white as they players gave their performance...thank you SO much for reading... Cpat Hair, thank you so much for reading, and your welcome comments... Interloper....my intuition is getting better all of the time....thank you for reading.... Auguste, please try to see the play some time...IT is what is amazing, thank you!.... Ethome, by now you know...it was what I received that enabled me to share this with you....thank you for your very kind words... MyEnchantedMelody...indeed, it was...thank you for reading...
