From the Brain to the Pen

The ideas I have flow through my brain
Begging for escape
They are so good they are my best
To get them on paper that shall be the test

I sit right down and try to write
My fingers ready to go
They perch upon the plastic keys
My screen, it starts to glow

Then at once it starts to happen
The thoughts they leave my head
NOOO!! I start to scream out loud
It was so clear when I was in my bed

I frantically search the empty space
Where my Pulitzer story that had once been
Where it had gone I could not tell
But I know many of my words are in that place

I close my eyes
I pick at my ear
I stroke my chin
I even chew on the end of my pen

Nothing works my minds a blank
I get up flustered and push my chair in
Pick up my notebook and my chewed up pen
To bed I will go to dream of what I had lost

But this time my journal is ready
On the nightstand where it should have been
Another masterpiece lost
Between the brain and the pen

---------------------------------------------------
not what I was intending to write but my brain left me no choice.

What wonderful imagery you portrayed and I could relate so well to this - not having my notebook handy when I'm out walking etc.  I've learnt my lesson now and don't go anywhere withouth it.  Thanks for this great piece of writing.  Take care.......Sue
