In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-06-24 06:57 PM

I have to confide:
There's a sense of pride
In the things that I do first...
The feeling's intense
The pleasure immense
When I find myself immersed
In the thought no one's come before me...
I set the trend, making history...

I'm an individual;
I make my own set of rules
I don't need fashion because I've got my own style...
My imprint's residual
Because it's original
Thus I'll get what I want though it may take a while...

Bygone are the days
Of all things cliche --
The banal and trivial...
It is time to seek
Ways that are unique,
Adding flavor to the dull...
Something different;  maybe even new...
Examples made:  respect becomes due...

I'm an individual;
I make my own set of rules
I don't need fashion because I've got my own style...
My imprint's residual
Because it's original
Thus I'll get what I want though it may take a while...

Creativity
Is a major key
To unlock the doors of fame
In order to be
Successful, you see,
You must make yourself a name...
Ingenuity is something sought...
If you use it, then your future's bought...

I'm an individual;
I make my own set of rules
I don't need fashion because I've got my own style...
My imprint's residual
Because it's original
Thus I'll get what I want though it may take a while...

It takes a strong will
To move up a hill
Everyone is going down...
But it's just as well
That you did rebel
Because you stood your own ground...
You showed you're an individual
That won't conform to the common lull...

I'm an individual;
I make my own set of rules
I don't need fashion because I've got my own style...
My imprint's residual
Because it's original
Thus I'll get what I want though it may take a while...

Mark,

     The message here is very true... and very important.. more people should take a stand and be themselves instead of following everyone else's rules.. me included.  Thanks for sharing this

Tara, my pleasure, and thank you.  Too many "sheeple" out there -- why not stray from the herd?

Sandra, may the Rebellion prevail!

Oh, I loved this one.  We should all just be ourselves and stop trying so hard to impress everyone.  You'd be amazed at the results.  Great write, Mark.

(Humbly smiling...  thanks Connie.)

Lone Wolf, I thank you, as well.  I absolutely, passionately agree:  one should just be one's self;  however, it seems the challenge lies in discovering just what exactly one's "self" truly is...  that's why Socrates' old "Know Thyself" philosphy has inspired me from a long time ago -- infinite wisdom and a lifelong pursuit, if you ask me...
