Sold For One More Night

Clothes strewn here and there,
Stripped of all dignity again,
She feels filthy and ugly,
But they love here, these men.

Slowly, she enters the room,
Filled with the devil's fire,
A room of disgrace and doom,
Fitting a mistress for hire.

A single mirror on a wall,
Her trick gazes into her eyes,
Slowly he savors her body,
She has many tears yet to cry.

In her face she sees evil,
A horror unspeakable,
She made a pact with the devil,
A promise unbreakable.

Then with a flick of a light,
She banishes all evil from sight.
She has sold her soul to the devil,
At least for one more night.

Thank you all for reading this one...

Actually I was going through some old photos from University when I came across a picture of a girl I roomed with.  Our last year of university she told me that she was postituting to put herself through university, as she was the oldest of 6 kids and gave all she made to her Mom to help out bringing up the other kids.  I will never, ever forget the day she told me. It was in our 3rd year, and she held her head in shame while crying, and told me she turned tricks and was a stripper as well, to which I said, "Heck, I still love ya!"...and we are still friends all these years later.  She is now a doctor of pediatrics, and I am very proud of her. (and that picture up there sure looks like her too)!  So, never judge a book by the cover! (cliche' but true!)

There are truly no boundaries to the visions of your muse, Sharon.  You have a magical ability to journey beyond the skies with your wonderous pen....this was deeply touching.
Hugs and smiles to you, always,

Your muse starts working the minute you decide to put to paper the thoughts that wind through that lovely head of yours....

and then of course, any time you have insomnia? That's your muse, then, too!

Very effective poem, and the story of your friend is a great follow up. Some times there is a happy ending.

Mysteria,
WOW!  Your imagery is so real, I could almost see that room, complete with all the pain and angst.  I'm glad your friend has sailed so far beyond those days.  Wonderful write...

Haunting images, Mysteria.  So vivid, it's scary.  Glad to see this is all past now.  Great write!

Lone Wolf: It sure is, but others who did that in university were not that lucky and I could name you 4 girls she and I know that are not here to tell you about it either, risky business, and not worth it!  Thanks for reading.  I hope a lesson is to be learned in this, that not all are so fortunate as she was?
