Vanity’s Play Virginia Salter thin be thin if you look anorexic but aren’t Wow! You’ve got it made. oh, wear antiperspirant not deodorant ‘cuz ladies never sweat and ambush him with a scent that’s not your own perhaps musk to show him your season or Ambiance to give him a reason to bring flowers to your door lift you off the floor whisk you to the shore for a lovely interlude cover gray don’t let him say your years of devotion are showing pucker your lips lift your ... swear off all chocolate so you don’t get zits shave your pits your legs, too, don’t let him find animal in you except for those moments on Saturday’s rumble when frolic you do in cotton sheets tumble paint those artificial nails fine so elegance fingers its way up his spine slinky dresses shorter than shorts jewelry donning your dancing cavorts whatever you do whatever you say don’t let him know it’s vanity’s play © June 29, 2000 |
