In a corporeal internship...

Close your eyes for a moment, and recall this story told...
As the sound of my voice triggers ancient visions to unfold:

Was it yesterday,
Together we lay,
On the sand banks of the Nile?
Or have thousands of years conspired to pass us by in the meanwhile?

Remember how our favorite palm
Would shade us from the sun?
And how the Ibis Song would calm
Your worries to be none?

We'd eat the dates our palm provided
While watching the boats come in
Knowing our rules were always abided
By our loyal people and kin...

You would place my sandals next to yours and press my tired feet
The softness of your graceful hands, like pillows, smooth and sweet...

The rings of lapis and gold that you wore
Hypnotized me, as they had before
When they gleamed like the fire I first saw in your eyes...
Of your passion and love for me that never dies...
And I, in turn, would run my fingers through your onyx hair,
As I'd watch your eyes roll back in bliss, this moment ours to share...

Remember the smiles we drew
From all the people we knew
As together, through our kingdom we strolled?
And the peace that we shared
With our people, who cared
For each other, for us, and for our land of old?

The temples were ours to give thanks for our love
And the timeless pyramids that towered above...
Could not compare in strength or in height
To the passion we shared at each other's sight...

The flowing white robe you would wear just for me...
Which hinted of the treasures inside...
The alibaster vase I had made for you to keep
The coconut oil we would use in the night...

I can still feel the beating of your heart against mine
And the golden ankh I gave you, around your neck did shine...
The zephyr through our window made all of our candles flicker
As the glowing gems beneath your robe seemingly got thicker...

The whispers of your breathing, like the gentle evening air...
Were rhythmically exuding through your supple lips so fair...
Your body told of secrets you had gotten from the Sphynx...
To sensually share with me through your laughter, smiles and winks...
Remember how I held you, like a goddess over me?
You always said it made you feel so full of life and free...

Our silhouettes would dance with all the figures on the walls
As the moon outside,
In kind, replied
To all the jackals' calls
And in that moment we knew neither Anubus nor Ra
Could ever hope to separate us or the love they saw...

The hieroglyphs paid homage to us all throughout the land,
For everyone knew we were timeless... as infinite as the sand...
There were statues of us all around, to remind our people of
The virtues that we stood for:  generosity and love...

Can you recall these stories I tell?
The ones that I remember so well?
Perhaps within you, lying dormant, some tales of your own?
That I too will remember once the images are shown?

For how can we forget that which to memory's not tied...
Or that which yearns to be released from the confines of inside?
So, share with me the visions you have seen within your heart,
For even timeless beings sometimes need a place to start...

Thank you, friends, for your positive responses.  I "channeled" this one day, putting myself in the mindset of "remembering", once more choosing a topic (Egypt), and running away with the imagery and inspirations...  It became so vivid that it really started to feel like a potential past-life...  Who knows...?

You are very kind, Connie.  (I like that alias--"Mental Mint").  "Miles to go, before I sleep" in terms of works to post here, so keep your eyes open...
