Over Africa On terra firma, the solar chasers come from as far away as Japan; for fun, or knowledge, sentries over Mozambique as darkness overtakes the sun. Moon’s shadow in a tidal race, watchers gaze, with eyes eclipsed while, over Madagascar - as though lovers, one sphere covers the other, the two resembling a serpent star. The healers hear a different view, of ancestral songs that speak, this veil a sign of loss of peace, turmoil between her peoples, disease laying lives to waste, Africa’s low at a peak. Over the Indian Ocean, at sunset, it comes to an end, masks are quickly discarded, as realities around rebound, the travelers hastily leave, before real darkness descends. © 2001 Corinne Bailey [This message has been edited by Corinne (edited 06-21-2001).] |
