Wherein Lies the Love

Betwixt, between
mirror’s sheen
somewhere in
starshine’s moonbeam

     Does therein lie the love?

In babe’s heartbeat
in scotch glass neat
somewhere in
love letters sweet

          Does therein lie the love?

In rosebud lips
or in draught sipped
somewhere in
a beloved’s fingertips

               Does therein lie the love?

Are you heaven bent
to see love lent
somewhere in
a room for rent

                    Does therein lie the love?

If you be but true
to the love close to you,
therein lies the love.

If you chase the fears
and not cause the tears
therein lies the love.

If you see past the haze
of lust’s gray craze
therein lies the love.

If you looked into my soul
and became one with me, whole,
therein lies the love.

And when death’s door beckons
and the day comes to reckon

therein

lies the Love.
