Listening to every heart

Martie’s Song

come, and let us be
eight years old again
come and pull the rope with me
look at rainbows, friend
then cheer on our great
hope

come and tease the chin
on me,
put on skates
and grin with me
afterwards,
we’ll climb those
green and cherry trees

come, let’s just you
and I
take the apples and
hit bull’s eye
see who can spit the
farthest, true
kick the can
fix hobo stew

where’s my Martie, on
a trip
fishing holes and
tenting tips
she’s been gone and
I’m missing her
she’s my rainbow…
I’m her “sure”

I need that little window in
that dark of her
conspire,
I need to see the where
within
where all our thoughts
transpire

she does not know
of her great enthuse
and the sparks she
brings
outside of this, she would
not know
of these sincere
inquirings

she is one of those I’d call
a friend, ‘tho I not know
of her in real
she is one of those who
touch
the poets that would
feel

I miss her.

She might never know
how I’ve pined for her
her tender words
how my days seem empty
for her voice I have
not heard

she is a poet true,
a great mind
and oh so very much
more
she is a poet, new,
to her being legend and
some lore

she is a poet, come
she is my inspire
she is a reason why
I want to climb higher
oh God so much and
more than that
she is that one
to whom
I tip my hat

I miss her….

Martie, come, let’s be eight years old
again, and pull the rope
let us look at rainbows, friend
and cheer on our great hope

come and tease the chin
on me,
come, let’s put on skates
let’s talk of all our great plans
and all our future dates
come and then grin with me
and afterwards,
we’ll climb
all of those
old cherry trees
and remark on our behinds…

Oh Martie is so lucky to have a friend like you. It was nice to join you in remembering what it was like to be eight once again.

Karilea~

She'll return from Sierra's High
laden with poetry in eye
For she visions things differently
precious treasures we will see ...

I'm waiting here on the swing
until she swoops back on angel wing
Here in our hearts where she belongs ...
singing, singing ... 'Martie's Song'

Me too !

Karilea,

It seems that you and I have a very good friend in common. Martie is such a sweetheart and I dearly miss her also.  I can't wait until she gets back.

With Martie gone, it's not quite the same,
She has her own poetic claim to fame,
And each morning I look to see,
Her lovely words waiting there for me.
Happy 25th Anniversary to a wondeful pair,
Hey, I miss your poetry, and wish I was there!
(*smiles* I bet you are fading without me?)

Nice work Karilea, I miss her, and want to play in the sprinklers too!

This is a lovely tribute to one of the greatest writers I know. For she twists a phrase with a whole knew light and you know exactly what she's saying. Those things way back in the mind that you never conciously think about, until Martie somehow puts them on paper, and you say, YES!, what an exquisite way of saying something I've never said or heard. And she is so sweet.
Thank you for this lovely song

Karilea, my sweet friend, I am so very touched by this poem..what a wonderful way to return to poetry land!  Thankyou also, to all of you who replied with such sweet words of friendship.  I shall treasure this.  (maybe I should go away more often  )

I do have many poems running around in my heart...it's writing them down that's the tricky part.  Hugs to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
