Out Damned Spot of Sleeplessness!

Out damned spot of sleeplessness!
Take your thoughts and GO!
Those are things I cannot deal with
whether day or night in tow.

And those other things,
you know as well as I
they cannot be affected
in the middle of the night!

Leave me alone, just leave me be
it’s rest that I seek out,
Out damned spot of sleeplessness,
get out, get out, get out!!!!

Take you worries, take your frets
let them stew in their own juices,
With all I am, with all I be
I place them all in truces.

Better yet, I’ll place them
in prayers of supplication
for if I don’t I’ll surely suffer
from sleeper’s constipation.

Oh running of the mind
instead of running of the z’s
treats me none too kind,
brings me to my knees.

If I’m to face the coming day
with any source of power
I must find some sleep, oh, dread,
before the wake-up hour.

So, out damned spot of sleeplessness
I beg you take your leave.
For I am just a mortal soul
and need a night’s reprieve!

Yeah, I can relate Virgina! Sometimes it's like a curse but you wrote about it so very well my dear poet friend!

Thank you, ethome, very much. This has been brewing for about 3 days, but when I finally gave it its attention it just SPED onto the page. Guess I've been there just too many times for it not to go down quickly and clearly.

Thanks DE, I had fun doing this...giving myself time to vent AND to put things in perspective. Fretting over that which one has no control is fruitless fretting! So glad you enjoyed!
