my poet-tree it looked like an "L" that had decided one day to lift its foot up. so i climbed it. in just the right spot to sit, i saw the marks of those who'd sat there before. there's a heart carved into the bark, proclaiming "M.O. + C.D." but only to the eyes that find this spot. i wonder did he bring her here to see it? or was he a starry-eyed, lovesick lad, staring at her somewhere across the park, and trying, with his pocketknife, to tell this tree, his only friend, how she made him feel. i like this poet-tree, the leaves look like cartoon faces, or mermaids, or...oh, that is a butterfly. ---------------------------------- about halfway through this, i heard a noise above me in the tree. i guess these are haikus: groggy squirrel up there, glares at intruder who sits, between him and ground. can't train squirrels to fetch. for if you point, they only look at your finger. you stupid squirrel, look! that branch reaches the next tree! you, squirrel, you go now! |

Oh, enjoyed...and yes, I believe your haikus were "almost" right on...that they were talking to each other...perhaps a senkyu, which I have named! LOL... very clever! |
