HORIZON'S CALL

"Closer to the sky," she said,
With ev'ry inhibition shed.
I felt the yearning in her cry,
And only wished that I could fly.

The woman grown, a dreaming child
Before me, standing undefiled;
I whispered, "I'll meet you there."
A new horizon's call we'll share...

...Where by the dreams once left unformed
Is chance fulfilled and the heart warmed.
...Where faith finds certainty within
The hope for what has never been;

A love found true, a touch that heals
In need but destiny reveals,
As journey's past slip quietly
Beyond the realm of memory.

Yet lingers in the future drawn
Upon a sky we once wished on,
The wont of truth forever brings
When heaven grants an angel wings.

Linda,

It's hard to believe it'll be one year Thursday since you just came out for the weekend...LOL and you know, I don't think mere poetry will ever do justice to the feelings I hold for you.  You've touched me in a way I never thought possible and showed me that love doesn't have to co-exist with pain, something I will never be able to repay you for.  You wrote a poem just before your trip out here, "Closer to the Sky".  It has always been one of my favorite pieces written by you.  I hope you'll forgive my feeble attempt at a reply.  I love you, Linda, I'm so glad your wings brought you my way...

Happy Anniversary.

Michael

For Michael and Linda ...
the words are so very appropriate

Because You Love Me
sung by Jo Dee Messina

I don't know how I survived
In this cold and empty world for all this time
I only know that I'm alive
Because you love me

When I recall what I've been through
There's some things that I wish I didn't do
But now I do the things I do
Because you love me

And now that you're in my life
I'm so glad I'm alive
'Cause you showed me the way
And I know now how good it can be
Because you love me

And now that you're in my life
Oh I'm so glad I'm alive
'Cause you showed me the way
And I know now how good it can be
Because you love me

I believe in things unseen
I believe in the message of a dream
And I believe in what you are
Because you love me

With all my heart and all my soul
I'm lovin' you and I never will let go
And everyday I let it show
Because you love me
Because you love me
Ooh, because you love me

You guys are great - you know that...

Janet, thank you for your song, and your emotion...

Marge, WOW -  I wasn't expecting that.  You're definitely good to your word...  You know, in reading that piece from my dark and shadowy past, it only serves to further remind me just how lucky I am to have found the love I have in Linda.  That part of my life seems so distant and removed now, and yet I still remember the emptiness of it all too well.  I love it when you're right, too, Marge.  Thank you.

PdV, funny too, how two extraordinarily pessimistic people have found so much joy, and hope in each other, isn't it?  Thank you too, PdV, for always helping me to believe.

suthern, indeed, and may it never stop.

Rain, thank you - and welcome to Passions, I look forward to reading some of your work.

Serenity - you are lovely too, ya know!  TY

Kit, you've always related so well to some of my darker writings - I hope you also can relate to this one...  Thank you so much.

And thank you all for the kind replies,

Michael

My sweet Michael,

I wanted to cry when I first read this -- and you KNOW I'm not generally the mushy sort!  I guess you just bring out that side in me ...

Who could help being a quivering Jello-blob of emotion (<- like that image?   )when they have the tenderest, most thoughtful, puppy-dog-eyed boyfriend in the known universe lavishing his attention on them every single day?  I mean, I'm not one to flaunt what I've got, but: EAT YOUR HEART OUT, GIRLS!

*ahem*.  Well, at any rate, sweetie, I would like to take this opportunity to say how lucky I am to have descended whirlwind-style into your unsuspecting life, and that with the exception of my babies, I love you more than anyone in the entire world (yes, even the cat).

Smooches and hugs forever,

Linda

PS:  Do I get to critique the poem now?
