The darkest hour comes And is quickly gone. The day will spring forth And shall find me alone. Do not be gentle with me Hurt me...hurt me quickly, So that I may start to heal. Go ahead...speak words which cannot feel. I saw the night coming Long before it got here. I saw your leap coming Long before the year. So don't be gentle with me. Hurt me...hurt me quickly. I have felt your chill And I have seen your words, Set as a dagger to kill. Do what you intend to do tonight. The daggers will hurt, But I will eventually be alright. Don't be gentle with me. Hurt me...hurt me quickly And then leave. Observe the animals and they shall teach you the nature of life in man. Observe the earth and it shall reveal the nature of life in God. - Joyce [This message has been edited by joycerogers (edited 05-22-2001).] |

When reading this poem I felt like I'd been there....I guess we all have at one time or another....the ending was great 'And then leave.' That's the best thing they can do. |

why hurt at all? I like the feeling of this. . . just get it over with. . . but why? Perhaps that's the question we need to ask ourselves. . . excellent. . . ------------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |
