How Would YOU Spend 5 MILLION DOLLARS?

by Michael

If you suddenly inherited five million dollars,
how would you spend it?

I would hire a good tax lawyer,
put the money in the bank
and live off the interest.
The interest would amount to a LOT of money.
That would give me the chance to do something
I’ve always wanted to do.
I would use the money
to help children stricken with disease,
from abusive homes,
those in poverty,
those in need of hope and joy.

Now it’s your turn.
How would you spend it?

I would also spend the interest and feed and help hungry children.

Lofty aims, but since I never expect to inherit anything like five million I give my widow's mite now.  Joyce

Kathleen,
Somehow I knew that you would

Joyce,
Just a game.  Kinda like dreaming of the impossible and having a little fun with "what if"     I'm sure you'd spend yours well

Interloper,
One dollar at a time?  A VERY good answer

there are too many things that I would do with it. . . but rest assured, I would gather as many Passionate Poets as I could for one heck of a Poetic Weekend. . .

For me, 5 million dollars means in Dutch money 2,5 times more, so I'll be winning 12,5 million guilders, WOW.
I would help lots of poor people, sick children, give my own kids some, spent some on my house and garden and sheep.

BUT....I never win anything, so I hold on to an old Dutch saying:

When you're not lucky in games, you must be lucky in love

And I don't need 5 million dollars for that.

I would take care of my family first....then I'd help as many kids as I could....and abused women....maybe a shelter to get their lives on the right track again....I'd have to help someone somewhere!!

Sven,
Am I invited?    Thanks

Titia,
Goodness, maybe I ought to retire there someday.   So many good things you'd do with your guilders.    I never win anything either, so I don't play.  Thanks for responding.

SEA,
I think all of would want to help others in anyway we can.  It tells a lot about where a person's priorities are, don't you think?  I like how you're spending yours also.   Thanks

I would start a trust fund for education for youth that could not afford it,and keep one dollar to buy a lottery ticket and pray I won another 5 million!

Michael,

5 million dollars. Wow. I'd take care of my family and friends. And I'd travel.. alot I'd probably end up living in Texas after visiting a long list of people. The more I think of it the more things pop into my mind! This reply could be a long one.. but I will spare you the details! lol

The question is one that dreams are made from,
but to answer,
After the government took their half (plus),
I would buy a place deep in the mountains,
and purchase a printing company.
Then I would publish my poetry and others,
selling them at only the cost of the printing.

I've taken my time answering this. It's too hard to think about, so if you'd just send the money to me, then after I've spent it all, I'd gladly give you an account of where it went.

It would certainly be a test of character. One test I will never have to worry about flunking.. of course because I am happy just to have a few dollars in my purse enough to meet my needs.

Sharon,
The education trust sounds like a great idea.    Thanks for reading.

rosepetals,
Yes, I believe I would also do a bit of traveling myself.  However, I wouldn't end up in Texas.  I've been there.  I like TALL trees.  I'd have a house at the ocean    Thank you.

Professor Gloom,
Such a good idea.  I really like it a lot.  It would be a cheaper way to get our words read, thereby putting poetry in the hands of more people.  Wonderful!     Thanks

inot2B,
(Laughing)  That's clever.     Nope, gonna have to think of a way to spend it first.  Thank you for reading this silly post.

Songbird,
That says a lot about your character, you know...and a fine one I think it is.    Thank you

I will try again!!!
Take $2 million and put in bank and out of the interest I'd give for:
   1. Average students in high school who works hard for grades, and shows up regularly to school and want to go to college. The poor and smart get scholarships.
   2. Women who would like to get an education so they don't have to depend on anyone else.
   3. HALO flight (an air ambulance that works only on donations) you don't have to have money just a need to use them.
Now that leaves $3 million, I'll put it in a high yield bank account and live off of it. Travel, the United States, share with those I see who have a need.
I DO NOT WANT TO SHARE WITH UNCLE SAM!!

Inot2B,

Some excellent ideas here.  Now here's your money and spend it just as you said you would.  Thanks

well, i have decided since i love to write an have about 140 poems ive already written
an since i dont foresee 5 million coming my way anytime soon,i am taking action an have
just recently put together my first book of poems,i am self publishing it an keeping the cost of it as low as possible so anyone who wants a copy can get one,i also am donating
$5 from each book i sell to "Honor the Earth"
an plan on donating money with each book of poems i put together,i want my writing to do some good an help others anyway i can.
so 5 million dollars or not i am going to
make my books of poetry an try an help others
although i certainly could give more to charities with 5 million i always give what i can when i can.
i am 28 female an write poems an Mowing lawns is what i do for work so i dont make much money at all an my family could certainly use any money that comes our way
i am trying to save up now to get us a car
since we dont have one now,its a long story.
well anyway just wanted to share a little about myself with all of you wonderful people
here.
