the child in the cradle sleeps serenely, with his thumb in mouth head rested on fluffy pillow while honeyed drool of innocence splashes soft waves amidst sweet dreams, where all he sees are flowers and teddy bears and life appears to be a bed of scented petals draped by shadows of moonlight, where fairies dance in rejoice singing songs of sweet emotion sleep needs a small incentive, like a sweet thumb to suck on, to announce its arrival, in time the mother by the cradle sits patiently, with her fingers softly holding the child's other hand where little fingers are wrapped around as if holding on to earth amid his dreamy flight with fairies among clouds and all she sees is an angel in overtures of joyous resplendence, springing out like sunlight from behind clouds of harsh life wherein she knows that, the next day at seven, she has to begin her chores, be at work by nine and wait impatiently till five before rushing back to her fruit of desire - seeking upliftment sleep needs to be delayed since every moment she sits there in a patient adore is timed the father in his thinking chair is in eager await of the end of this night and many more of these long ones, so that one bright day, his son will wear the colours of success and will speak the talk of unbridled maturity, and that day will make him proud when a rare gem would have sprung, one whom both him and her will look at in joyous amaze- paradise will be found again sleep has to be slept quickly and shortly so that each day counts in an effort to give his child all that is needed on time "I was born intelligent - education ruined me" [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 06-18-2001).] |

This is excellent, Sudhir... what a unique portrayal of family life - from the different perspectives of something we (hopefully *G*) do every night. *S* Your description of the child really made me smile... Well done! |
