Farewell by Michael You once shone brightness in my life The truths you showed me weren't for naught But now I am lost and weary And search for truths you might have sought The sun holds longer to the day Nights are more still than ever were My way is hard to traverse now And memory, sometimes a blur It wasn't right for you to leave When not a farewell did you say I had no chance a prayer to pray Only my heart to break and grieve I can't forget the way you laughed And how I cried when you were gone The way you lived and filled your days Although they weren't very long I'll not forget that chilly morn I cast your ashes to the wind Then watched them settle on the sand Behind me stood five other men (My father died in 1981 at the age of sixty after battling a terminal illness for the last six years of his life. His last and only request was to be cremated and for me to scatter his ashes in front of the lighthouse on Tybee Island, Georgia. Nine years later my mother also passed away and I scattered her ashes where I'd scattered his. May God always keep them together) The day was breaking on the sea As gray to scarlet turned the sky Three seagulls soared above the surf Just as the lighthouse winked, goodbye Proust- |

Michael, you touched my heart more than you can know...my father too, is battling and seems to be doing a good job of it, but he's quite ill today unfortunately...still recovering from a double dose of radiation treatment on Friday...so hugs to you, and thank you for this one! |

You're at peace now, Michael. Having a blast with those parents you lost so long ago. But please know...you are missed here now...just as you missed your parents! Until we meet again, my sweet friend! ~ Becka |
