Repost` written for my Dad who passed away almost 7 years ago. Happy Father's Day, Dad!

I Lift My Hands

I praise him for my family in my prayers at night
And, I thank him for having you within my life
Though tears fall like rain, Dad, with missing you
I must lift my hands to the man who needs you, too...

He's taken you from the cold the only way he knew best
He has layed out a much kinder place for a man to rest
And, though I find myself wishing I was never alone
I must lift my hands to the man who's given you a sweeter home...

He's given you, Dad, the most peaceful nights
So, lay your head in happiness for we'll be alright
And, though my heart is drowning in so many tears
I must lift my hands to the man for giving us such happy years...

He's taken you, Dad, from the rain and the storms
And, he's taken you, Dad, to keep you warm
It's in my truest belief that you're in a greater land
So, for that, to God, I must lift my hands...

You've taught us that a family can't really be apart
Because once a family, always a family, inside real hearts
And, from your old life here we're still one somehow
But, I must lift my hands to the man who is your new family now...

From the day you left we've lived on rocky ground
But, it was your time to rest when we layed you down
You were tired for years but your light came on time
So, I must lift my hands to the man who's given you peace of mind...

In a moments weakness I find myself crying for strength
Because love feels empty sometimes when life's at it's end
But, I know in reality you are so blessed at last
So, I must lift my hands to that lucky man who's holding my Dad...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Saunni, this was a wonderful tribute to your Dad, and he sure did a wonderful thing before he passed on - he gave us you!

Outstanding! We share many of the same feelings about our Dad's. Although I wasn't convinced G-d should have had him all that quickly. lol.
