Dirty fingers beside the door staining
Small muddy tracks on carpet when raining;
This grime is magically appearing,
Even her window has a light smearing.

Where ever she looks dirt and grease collect.

She scrub white counters with the strongest bleach
Cleaning places she has no need to reach.
Electronic dust sifters sweep the air,
But on the mantelpiece dust settles there

Where ever she looks dirt and grease collect.

Washing plates and slightly spotted glasses,
The afternoon comes and quickly passes;
Clean laundry pressed and put folded away
Soon she’s battled dirt through another day.

Oh, yeah, those little greasey, dirty finger prints!! Do you know after years and years and painting and scrubbing and cleaning, I still come across a few finger prints! It is good not to get them all gone.  Tell that gal to "mellow out" and enjoy those who made those messes.  Lovely writing.  ME

This is so true...but I smile, recalling an exchange I had with an elderly friend upon seeing her newly renovated apartment--I smiled in amazement and said:

"There's no little handprints anywhere!"

and she replied with obvious wistfulness,

"No. No there isn't."

Kind of gave me a different perspective.
So thanks for leading me to that memory!

PG~
When I read the title ...
this mom's mind immediately flipped that photo album in the heart -
finding the 'masters' of grime-in-crime ...
Two precious sons perched in the bathtub with faces
that only the makers of Dial soap could have adored at the time.

Perhaps it wasn't your intent ...
but, I thank you for stirring the memory.

yes, Gloom, even after a good "clean" there is a place where the dust continues to settle..since you seem to know so much about cleaning..want to have a turn at my place?

sighhhhh...what a crime it is that you can't sell dust particles...I would be a millionaire.

Thank you, Mother Earth,
Many people have told my cousin to
“mellow out” using many different phrases,
but she continues to clean and clean again.
I think it’s because of memories that she cleans.
Glad you liked my words.

Thank you, Sharon,
I am pleased you enjoyed.

Thank you, serenity,
I believe that hers are wistful also.
Because she thinks of times when the marks were there
And her world was very different.
It’s a good perspective in it’s measure
Although she like many of us don’t measure time
like we used to.

Thank you, Suetang,
Always a pleasure to weave for you.

Thank you, Marge,
Actually it was the intent,
She had three faces all lost in a single stroke.
She stays in the photo book all the time now.
Glad I could stir a memory for you.

Thank you, Nakdthoughts,
I never minded the dust, so I’d be no help,
And my cousin seldom travels.
I am pleased that you liked my word particles
Gathered upon the page in this sonnet.

sighhhhh...what a crime it is that you can't sell memories...I would be a millionaire.
