Dedicated to my Grandma, Phyllis
who passed away on June 15, 1996

I Want You To Know

My dear, Deborah,
my first born,
the most beautiful baby girl that I have ever laid eyes upon...
you grew into an extraordinary woman,
whenever you read Winnie The Pooh
think of me and you
when you were once the young girl with auburn hair
in my arms,
my little Debbo,
always adoring you

I want you to know, Jennifer,
my second child,
that your humour and your exuberance brought tears of joy
to my once tired old eyes
and filled my empty walls with laughter,
thank you for my Jason, my second grandchild,
I have found in you a daughter and a forever friend,
I will always be your Mrs. Beautiful,
my fiery Jen-Jen

You must know, Laura,
my third baby girl,
that although I rarely told you in life,
I am so very proud of you,
you blossomed into a lovely, strong and intelligent woman,
you gave me my first grandchild, my Melissa,
and, when the rain falls gently upon your sweet face,
it is a proud mother's tears from Heaven
for you, my Laurie Dorie

I need for you to know, Christopher,
my last child,
you were the miracle that I had hoped for -
my precious bouncing boy
with blond hair and dancing green eyes,
you gave me Brittany, my last grandchild,
know that I am proud of your creativity,
your tender heart and your lively spirit,
always my man-child,
my little Chrissy

I know that you miss me,
but, please dry your eyes,
for, I am not gone

I am the fresh breeze prancing on pansies,
and a glorious rainbow at the end of a storm,
I am a breathtaking sunset with colours divine
and the waking sunrise, greeting you in early morn

I am Eden's golden rays cascading from the clouds,
and a fragrant rose of scarlet red,
I am a soothing melody waltzing in the wind
and the butterfly wings in a poet's head

I will never leave you,
my children,
death ends a life on earth,
but, not a relationship,
you will always be mine...
and I, yours, forevermore,
you have the memories in your heart
to keep me close,
to keep me alive

I shall live within your laughter,
your smile,
your breath
and in every teardrop you shed,
this, I promise you...

I know that you miss me
but, please dry your eyes,
fill not your hearts with pain and grief,
realize that I am finally home,
the Lord has given me relief,
this, I want you to know

Love, Mum (Phyllis)
xoxo

unforgettable

Melissa, I love the beauty of your love and dedication to your grandmother. This is soooo exquisite! My Nanny was the greatest love in my life, no one has ever loved me as she did! love, Ellie

SweetMelissa~
What a lovely, lovely presentation.
You share your heart so sweetly.
This brought me many dear memories of relatives
no longer with me in the flesh -
but my heart holds their spirits.

*Hugs* to you, hon.
Thank you for being a poet.

I've lost one grandmother - Tomorrow I'll be attending my Grammie Anderson's 98th birthday party.  She's the most wonderful lady in the world - at least to me... ...  I'm so grateful that we can have yet one more birthday with her -

This is a lovely tribute, Melissa - Grandmothers are special indeed...

Sandra, Ellie, Marge and Nan - Thank you for reading and replying to this special poem of mine, it means a lot to me and my family

They say that it gets easier over time when a loved one dies, but, that's just a myth, today is the anniversary of her death and it is still difficult to accept that she is gone, but, that's why I wrote this poem to show that at least she is finally at peace with God and my Grandpa~

Melissa, this is so beautiful.  I only had one Grandma and she was a tough old bird that had no time to hold or kiss boo-boo's.  I want so much to be different to my Grands and Great-Grands!!  Thank you for sharing all of this great love with us.  ME

Melis, I am very very impressed with this...
the way you wrote this thru her eyes...like a letter to each of her kids...
that is a very cool and clever level of inspire...
and the emotional depth and sincerity shines in every verse..its obvious this was important to you and your efforts pay off.
She's quite a muse for you
you have done her proud, your whole family...
and you honor her in this wonderful and loving tribute.
Outstanding writing and presentation.
thank you for sharing this with us.

Stunning work, Melissa.  So many memories you share.  She lives on always in all you are and all you do.  An angel watching down from heaven who smiles upon your face.  This was so tender and sweet.  Just lovely.

Another superb work here Melissa, it's like you tapped into her being to find the words for this one. . . it's a work of a heart that is indeed open and understanding. . .

Just amazing. . .
