There is...
within the confine of our hearts,
a palace filled with those loathing
and despicable thoughts
that have been carried there,
not by chance,
but by design,
so that with all measure
of good faith we might
secure and cloister
them away from all
that is of the better
nature.

Still...
the gnashing of teeth
upon bones of long
dead and past actions
or fears,
does on nights that
the chamber is empty
except for the passing
wraiths of time
disturb our
sleep.

I cannot expunge this
reviled and hated part
of my kingdom
without...
also taking that which
has made me appreciate
the softness of another's touch
or the beauty of simple
sun upon mornings pane..

So I curse these dreams...
and with wailing to match
those of the imprisoned memories
walk the ramparts looking always
eastward for the rising sun
and enough light..
to see the scars
from other battles
and other
times

That's real good writing!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

so hard to shut it off, so hard to endure

I love your writing. This is truly magnificent. But... My mother always told me that there are two worthless emotions: Worry and Regret.

WOnderful write.

Ahhh, very well said, however, you can plow the bittersweet with the good, and raise a crop that is pleasing to the palate. We learn from the bad experiences, which only makes the good memories more worthwhile...gentle smile

Excellently written, cpat hair...you've penned some great lines...

I hopelessly, helplessly, wonder why
Everything gotta change around me
I’d tell it to your face,
But you lost your face along the way...
