God Is Love

The subject has risen, which I will address.
Superb definitions, are lacking at best...
Love? an emotion? The question is odd,
The Scriptures do tell us that love is...God.

John, in his epistle, the first one in fact-
Defines Love, the Person; through Love, the act.
“Hereby perceive we..” God’s love, we are told-
Through the gift of His Son, the writer is bold.

God so loved the world, our plight He so felt-
He partook of our nature, and with us He dwelt.
Bearing our sins, Himself, on the tree-
That the poor “whosoever”, from his guilt might go free.

Preparing a place, for the ones He redeemed-
Returning in glory, and highly esteemed...
His Word is established forever, above-
Three words suffice nicely, they are “God is love”.

This is beautiful and so very true. I had to read this simpily for the title, as it gave the very question I've pondered for awhile. I liked your answer very much.
