The phone rang just once and even though I ran and slammed my knee into the corner of the table and dived across the bed wounded now and bleeding on the white cotton defeated by a dead phone I lay naked fresh from bath and wonder: "was that YOU?" |

that's why you should have a cordless phone. . . I hate those moments. . . but I love this poem. . . ------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

And all I can think of is that I never race to the phone anymore because I know he's never going to call me (and yes! he has my number!)....sigh. |

we have the answering machine, we never pick up the phone in my house until some one talks to the machine. Paranoid people us irish are..lol Serne, no more racing to the phone. Use Star 69, like Vas said. I know about this because of an R.E.M "Star 69." Enjoyed the read and got the title wrong, you are P(oe)tic "Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life". Terry Pratchett |

Not knowing who's been calling, I hate that and I often miss it because I never remember where I did put the phone down. Very nice write. Titia A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess... |

Funny, but oh so true. What if it was him...then again, what if it wasn't? I have this whole story down perfectly in my life. Love it. Sandra |
