i keep a small picture where darkness descends
to help me remember the comfort of friends
those friends that stood by me through troublesome times
are never forgotten in this heart of mine
when sleep takes my eyelids and closes them tight
that picture is there while i rest in the night
those smiles that were frozen again start to warm
the touch that was broken begins to take form
and then a sweet whisper floats out of the crowd
i turn my head quickly, my heart starts to pound
my name on her lips, how I've missed that these years
again we can talk until daylight appears
we spoke from the heart of the things we loved best
embraced within dreams, God I truly am blessed
