Their Laughter....My Tears |

Drawn to them...the couple in the back of the room Looking so in love...like brand new roses in bloom I couldn’t help but envy them as I watched the scene They had not a care in the world...so sweetly serene He looked at her...like she’s the only one there Gently pushing back a golden lock of her silken hair He leaned into her laughter like it was his saving grace Touching her hand so tenderly...as if made of fragile lace She glows under his gaze like stars on heaven’s floor Basking under his smile...she couldn’t help but adore She hangs on every word as if her life depends Praying silently...that this is the fairy tale that never ends He feels his heartbeat quicken as the dinner draws to a close Reaching to his pocket...he wonders if she knows He pulls the velvet box from it’s hiding place As he searches for the answer upon her lovely face She quiets the butterflies dancing in her heart Recording every moment....the moment “forever” will start She feels the room disappear and only sees him Happiness fills her heart to the very brim He wants this moment to be perfection Vanished is the speech he practiced to his reflection He offers her the stars above...and nothing less The response...a teary....breathless... “Yes” I watched them embrace...joined the others in their cheers The vision of them blurred under my tears I left quietly...as their laughter cut me to the bone For tonight I truly knew the emptiness...of alone |

ButterfliesDC~ Oh, what a lovely, lovely write. 'He leaned into her laughter like it was his saving grace Touching her hand so tenderly...as if made of fragile lace' The imagery of this phrasing is exquisite. Oh, I know the ending's sad ... but the entire piece is such a pretty sad ... Lovely, poetess. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

BDC, Oh sweetie, this hurts to read. So sad for you, yet so happy for them. I know how you feel my friend. Hang in there, sweet butterfly. Your time will come. Until then, take of you. ~BIG HUG~ your way. LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

BDC, that was superb! Absolutely flawless, and a wonderful read. Although bittersweet, the overtones of the heart of the lonely far outweigh the happiness of the couple in my mind. So very touching but so sad. I hope this is not real life - but just in case, I send you a huge big old hug! |

I think the last two lines define my life... watching and wondering in a wait that's never ending. This is superb! |

BDC, your poetry has grown leaps and bounds, since you first came to Passions - IMHO. The emotion bleeds through this piece beautifully. God, how I hate the feeling of "alone". Michael |

Oh, my baby Butterfly, just before we left for Texas, there were days and nights that you yearned for "aloneness". To be able to think and have the answers bounce off the empty room. I know this is a time of great changes and you are going through one of the hardest times of your life. You have written a beautifully haunting poem to share. You are a bouncer-backer and will look back on this some day as your growing time. Love and hugs, Butterflies Mom |

"He leaned into her laughter like it was his saving grace touching her hand so tenderly...as if made of fragile lace I left quietly...as their laughter cut me to the bone for tonight I truly knew the emptiness...of alone" =============================== Oh Holly, you made me with this bittersweet piece. I can not tell you how much this touched me, you have some beautiful lines in this, but I relate so much so to the final verse. Your writing keeps getting better and better, and every single poem that you have ever penned has touched me deeply! I pray that soon your tears will turn to laughter when your knight and shining armor carries you away Heck, I hope that happens to me soon too Take care, Melissa~ |
