She chooses her words carefully now Her life, discontent Wondering where it all slipped away, Where it all went She fashions for herself a cage, gilded And tells herself secret lies Wrapping them around her to please the mind, As long as it gets her by She pretends the present is the past For her present is a mess At night she lays her down to sleep, But her eyes look to the west She imagines a better man for herself The love with the lust In hands that can never feel again, The gold gathers dust She waits for something, but can’t describe Just a yearning within And every time she speaks of happiness, From her lips, shedding skin She wishes she was somewhere other than In her ornamental cage, gilded Yet knows who captured and perched her there, Her own actions built it She wishes not to break the cage, but fly unfettered And for everyone to listen as she sings So as to lift her up into the wind to soar, As a bird on the wing |

Okay, I could relate to everything but the "gilded" part---looking around--nope, no gilt here! This is a treasure---the depth of your writing continually impresses! |

Even the biggest and most ornate and expensive tombstones are still just...tombstones. Thank you all very much. |

I really like the sound of this. "She waits for something, but can’t describe Just a yearning within" Ah, wanting but not knowing just what. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Yet one never knows if they don't climb the fence. |

Alright, now I can respond to this piece. I was having trouble through all the tears that I shed. All that I could think was a line from a song. "She lies and says she in love with him, can't find a better man." Before I read this I wrote a piece called Goodbye Love and I ended up having to post it after reading this. Thank you so much for this piece. I'm going to have to add it to my library, if you don't mind. Through this I know that I have alot to think about. Love, Lady Live in my world just once and you'll find yourself enraptured. |

A poignant and sorrowful portrait, Poetic Knight. Nicely captured. Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

This is superb... and heartbreaking. You've penned a lot of truths here... and phrased them beautifully. |
