Bestride a long lithe sinuous neck Legs bent back beneath opaline scaled wings Held in place by spines across each thigh Wings beat the air as we rise generating a tempest the first gusts of air nearly steal breath from lungs as the earth falls away in a blur enormous shimmering scaled wings find thermal currents and in a spiral we glide higher Can’t feel the cold through the adrenaline rush light-headed lungs ready to collapse from the thinning air and suddenly we are in a dive hair and clothing absorb the clouds themselves as we soar through them I am drenched and scales shed water as we break through to clear sky still plummeting earthward in moments hair, clothing and scales are bone dry Shirt billowing The wind numbs at this velocity a sudden swoop, skimming mountain peaks and just as suddenly gaining elevation wingbeats echoing through the mountains banking left and leveling off just below the clouds wings tuck back and encircle me as we revolve downward a dizzying, heart-swallowing spin head still spinning I have no bearings eyes tear, vision blurred, body numb pulling up slightly we land to gallop along a river flowing forth from a colossal cavern within a reddish light mirrored throughout from faceted crystals and gems glittering everywhere the source a vast molten lake As I dismount I realize how cold I am sitting beside the warmth of the lake bearded chin resting in my lap my whole body vibrating to a growlish rumble as I stroke opaline scales. Wow, you worded my dreams so well! Have we spoken? (hehe) beautiful poem. Finding a place in my dragonside's heart, for sure. Great imagery. With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free.. |

Marge, thank you Dear Friend. It is nice to be here among friends. My pieces come few and far between of late. Much love and many blessings Always Eno James, never been to Magic Mountain, never even flown in a plane......lol Glad you enjoyed this. Many blessings Always Eno dragonpoe, My dreams as well. I think maybe I was a dragon in a previous life. Dragonspirits with me still. I have other Dragon Poems...I love to share them. (the name I use Enotneicna is Ancient One backwards.....because sometimes my heart feels ancient as a Dragon.) Many blessings Always Eno Words are my medicine. |
