I am led along the river
Through the park
Beyond the green grass
Then over the bridge
To the other side

He sits there patiently
Awaiting my arrival
Watching me walk
Across the foot bridge
That leads me to him

As I approach the table
He smiles and says hi
I am already smiling back
Asking if he’s been waiting long
He says no, not really

For a moment
It seems as if time
Has stood still
I am unaware
Of the city around us

Nothing exists beyond
His sweet face
I am brought back to reality
By his tender touch
On my cheek

It’s as if he can gaze
Into my very soul
When he looks at me
Those deep brown pools
Transport me to his world

In that world
I am free to be myself
No need to hide
Or compromise my principles
I am just Jennifer

The woman he loves
Happy, sad, good, or bad
The way it is supposed to be
With lovers and friends
Unconditionally

His honesty is refreshing
Every word is sincere
Straight from the heart
Spoken softly to me
Tickling my ear

We sit together
Watching the ducks
As they frolic in the water
Chasing each other
Splashing around

We are laughing
At their playfulness
Because in many ways
It mirrors our own
When it’s just us

I find myself in his arms
Head resting on his shoulder
He caresses my hair
As he tells me
He is lucky to be here

I bask in his praise
But secretly it is I
Who is giving thanks
To be with him here
On this beautiful day

He alone has made
My dreams come true
By healing my heart
With the precious gift
Of his everlasting love

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk into the room...

Kathleen - Thank you! There's a lot about me you still don't know, but we'll get there. I am very romantic when given the chance to be!!

Mysteria - I think it's a scene we've all seen many a time. Thanks!

sp - I am happy to share lovely thoughts with all these lovely people here. I am happy you like it! I think this side of me is long overdue.

BDC - I made your heart melt? Oh no!!! Didn't mean to do that!! Your heart is way to precious to melt. I will always ROAR my dear friend and I sincerely hope YOU do too. We deserve happiness and healing. Thank you so much for the reply. Hope all is well there. Miss you!!

Dee - Thank you!! Someone wise once told me that if you wrote of your dreams, they will come true. I figure it's worth a shot!!

When ever I see the name Lone Wolf I think I am going to read a poem from a man.  Then I see something like this and remember it is a lovely, romantic woman who uses that pen name.  This is wonderful and I hope it lasts forever.  Joyce

LW, this is such a moving piece, one of which I can identify with soooo much right now.  It is that feeling of thinking to one self....No I am the lucky one.....
Truly wonderful penning.......into the library with this one......wonderful.  Hugs

Bernie - I am honored to be in your library.  Thank you very much!

Temptress - I'm glad you liked this one.  Love truly is a gift and I think all too often we get caught up in everyday life and forget that.  Always remember it and it will never leave you.

Joyce - Don't let the name fool ya!!  LOL.  Thank you for the wonderful replies to my work.

Passions Voice - Thank you!!

latin passion - Welcome, and hang in there . . . you will find it someday.

GS - Honored to be in your library.  I am happy you can relate and feel this way.  Thank you!  Hugs back.

kitkat - It is truly a gift that needs to be taken advantage of.  Thanks!
