With eyes of crimson, bleeding down-
To form a pool upon the ground,
I ask you why you weep this way-
"My lover died two years today…"

Sorrow racks your very veins-
Belying fits of truth and pain,
Stay with me, I say tonight,
Meet my soul in midway flight.

With tawdry tears you turn away-
"She never would have been this way,
She’d live alone for days on end-
Never seeking chalice nor friend…"

‘Tis time to mend this fear inside-
I know her love will cease to die,
Come, let me cradle your intensity-
Rely on this, my friend in need…

Softly still, he finds my hand-
Desires only in one woman,
Yet knowing this, I am content-
This is the truest way of friends…

Open arms can be the most fragile in the world...

Bittersweet and tender...I really loved this line:

"Come, let me cradle your intensity-"

...this poem embodies the essence of a true friend...I can't help but get the sense that a true friendship is a basis for a true love too...
