Pain of Loneliness

Sadness grips me tightly
as I remember events of long ago
happiness, love, friendship
smiling so as if they were yesterday
but realizing that those cherished moments
have long since been dead

I lie in my bed
crying silent tears
as I remember the friends I knew
the love that I once felt
the heartache and sorrow that soon followed
as I was pushed aside
forgotton on the road known as life
why must my life thrive in the past?
why must I be treated so harshly?

Everyday, I hear people who know me
say how sweet I am... how caring I am
but how can I believe them
because why does a sweet and loving person
get treated like the scum of the earth
what crime could I have committed
to have everyone turn their back on me
pondering the thought in my mind

as I begin to close my eyes
drifting into gentle slumber
a lone tear rolls down my cheek
as I realize the truth
that no one even cares
that I am truly alone
in this dark and lonely world

Fear destroys the mind, depression destroys the soul... only love and compassion may save you from death.

We all have felt like that at one time or other. It's good to know we can pray and write ourselves right out of it.

They say that the hardest person to love is one's self, but....

when you do find that person in you to like, and love, soon, others come to find they like, and love, you too...

I hope that some light shines for you soon...

wow...i felt this poem as i saw myself in it...i loved it...awesome poem...this hit me hard...thanks for sharing it
