I hold you gently to my lips
And feel you touch on mine.
The happiness you make me feel
Is greater than divine...
I'm sure you'll never fully know
The happy man I am...
This date, in 1891,
Hormel created Spam.

They took a bit of happiness,
Mixed in a little joy,
Then seasoned it with laughter
From a happy little boy.
It isn't sausage, beef or pork
Although it looks like ham
It has a flavor all its own...
The miracle of Spam.

I wrote to congress to make this
A U.S. holiday
And, though it hasn't happened yet,
I'm sure it will someday.
Those congressmen are into pork
They just don't give a damn
Perhaps, by George, they'll come to see
The beauty that is Spam.

One hundred ten years you've been here
A century and more
And still you thrill the starving masses
Filled with your adore
So happy birthday, Spam, my love
No one will ever beat you
I celibrate you on this day
And then I'm gonna eat you!!!

ROTFLMBO - I "detest" that stuff!  I used to feed it to my dog.  Michael you made my day, I am laughing so hard, what a wonderful sense of humor you have.

This is hilarious,  nothing beats a spam sandwich with mustard.

Mysteria..to your DOG!?!?! How I love a woman who loves her pets so much she feeds them gourmet delicasies!!! LOL! Thank you!!

Titia..don't know Spam? Well, it is a culinary delight that only those of exquisite and refined tastes can appreciate. Served on a lightly toasted layer of crumbed breading (cracker) it represents the pinnacle of fine dining....what other food do you know that has e-mail named after it?

rosepetals25...I WUZ being romantic and sweet!!   Thank you for enjoying

Doreen...I heard that, too! A little birdy told me

Rose...you got it! Mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, pancake syrup...they ALL taste good!

SEA...come on over!! I'll show you things to do with Spam you've never dreamed of!

Do you suppose Treet is jealous?.. very witty 'deer! Enjoyed this.

ROFL   You and my husband have a lot in common. He could live on Spam alone, I think. This is sooooo funny!

ROFL ... my first memory of spam was in home economics class. We created this incredible delicasy, frying it up in bread crumbs laced with mustard. Ah yes ... I can taste it now.  Wonderfullly fun read Michael ... much enoyed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

I crept to my computer
In the middle of the night
I thought to read some poetry
And found this penned delight...
But woe! To my great surprise
(And much to my disgust)
I found myself with appetite
To have some Spam, I must!
But my sanity prevailed
As breakfast I was makin'
I chose to skip the mystery meat
And had some eggs and bacon!

ROFL... only you, Deer one... only you! *G* But I do admire your loyalty if not your taste... and you've given your love a fine tribute!

Some would call it scraps
that falls on the floor
But I would call it crap

They picked out all the bugs
that their eyes could see
then filled it full of drugs

Now all they would need
Was a sincere lobbyist
Who had a great greed

Money placed in an envelope
Passed out behind the bar
Balladeer would be their dope

To one and all he would declare
His most favorite food is SPAM
In hopes to become a millionaire

I miss Balladeer. I loved the twists and turns within the rhyming perfection that he shared. He was a poet and a master storyteller.

I miss him.
