They dodder in and out incessantly, the elderly, brimming smells of stale coffee. These are groping places for patchworks of stuffed men. A place to hang out 'till it's time to go. Fictitious flora clings, desperately attached to the ceiling, it reminds me of my grandmother's hair, always appearing fresh, yet always in danger of falling off. Muzak mimics Madonna’s "Get into the groove" cruel irony at it's best. My waitress is blonde, pretty and tall. She brings the wrong check. I wonder at the secret meaning, yet find none. I sit with my daughter coloring, me with words, and her with crayons. killed my Buddha, killed my Christ Killed my karma, paid the price For 27 years I've carried the welt Wie kleine ist deinige Welt? Yanno - I found this very sad, as I am currently going through a period of adjustment with a friend in a long term care facility, and related it to that. It is funny how plastic their world is (after a stroke, etc.) compared to only the week before and somehow they don't seem to mind, it is our "stuff"! Nice job on this. ~*~ I write ~ Therefore I am ~*~ |

Anson, I am too touched by this to even want to critique the poetry of it. I just want to say this was a very enjoyable and heart pulling read. Hope to come across it again when in a more critical mood but for now let me say your title intrigued me and is what brought me in and am so glad it did. Panne |

While this could be viewed as sad, I see it as your opportunity to continue coloring not only the words you share with your daughter, but our eyesight with your gift of poetry. A splendid write. And yes, I see your comments as to critiquing, so all I can say is, I wish I had written this! I have not caught your first post here, so a belated WELCOME to Passions! For me, this is a keeper, and I'm popping it into my library as of NOW! |
